First Day Nerves and Latecomer Fun: My First Knowledge Management Class

After a few years of surviving the pandemic and adjusting to the ups and downs of online classes, here I am, back in the classroom. Face-to-face classes again—finally! It feels strange, like I’m revisiting a world I almost forgot, and of course, I’ve decided to document it all through my blogs. So, here we go, starting with day one of my Knowledge Management class, and trust me, it was quite the experience!
I was really nervous because, in this class, if you come late, you have to do something in front of everyone. You have to perform—dance, sing, or do something funny to make up for being late. “Ay, di ko gusto ana! Di nako kaya mag-atubang sa atubangan sa daghang tao! HAHAHA” While running, I couldn’t help but to think for something to perform in case I come late. On my mind, thoughts were battling if I should dance, act, sing— truly a mental menace! But a big part of me doesn’t want to perform. I mean, who wants to sacrifice one’s self as a laughingstock of the class? That’s when my leap starts getting bigger, notwithstanding all the things that goes to and fro on my vision. My mind wants to arrive at school on time. I don’t want to put myself into the pit of hell! No! I kept thinking. So, I was super relieved when I arrived just in time and avoided being picked to perform.
After all the latecomers did their performances—some were quite impressive while others were a bit awkward—the real class began. Our instructor, took over, and he made everything so much fun. We opened the forms we filled out before classes started. It was like opening a time capsule. We read our big hopes and dreams for the course. “Ayusa, taas kaayo atong mga pangandoy,” I uttered to my seatmate as we read through them.
Next, we explored the University Virtual Environment or UVE. It is an online hub where we can find all the info and tools we need for class. We checked to see if our enrollment status were updated, and some of us were a bit worried because it looked like we weren’t enrolled yet. But he reassured us that it was because we hadn’t filled out all the necessary forms. “Kailangan ninyo tanan i-fill out ang forms para ma enrolled mo sa UVE,” he explained. He told us that we all needed to complete the forms, and then he continued with the rest of the class.
We also went through the class briefer, which explained the university’s vision, mission, and core values. It was like getting a special tour of what our university has achieved. “Wow, grabe kaayo ang accomplishment sa atong school labi na sa recent nga PQA,” I thought, feeling proud and a little pressured. Sir Randy made sure we understood how all this fits into our course.
That was a tiring yet fulfilling day for me! Having a grasp of what Knowledge Management is only prepares me for something better and worse! This semester will truly be a rollercoaster ride for everyone. Despite setbacks, we remain strong into our seatbelts and go through the runs and lows of life.
While walking down home, I sighed and said, “Sugod na gyud ta ani. Ready or not.” As I take a step forward, I am headed to see what the future looks like on every clack of my shoes on the floor. A sense of satisfaction. A sense of relief. A sense of success.
I sighed, yet stretched my facial muscles to show a smile— a smile despite how my back aches and swells due to a long day.
Anyway, got to walk back home! ‘Till the next blog!
