This week, from September 2-6, 2024, our classes shifted online due to a significant event—the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDa) Caravan of Services being held at our school. Instead of our usual face-to-face Knowledge Management class, we were tasked with an asynchronous learning setup. Our professor provided us with videos to watch through UVE, which broke down key concepts in Knowledge Management. Although online learning felt different, “Lahi ra gyud ang online class, pero sige lang, maka-learn gihapon, hinaot,” I remained optimistic, knowing that the lessons would still be just as impactful.
The first part talked about data, which is just raw facts—numbers, dates, words. "Wa pa’y klaro nga meaning or kung para asa ang mga butang kung data lang." Then, you organize it into information, which gives context. “Mura’g puzzle pieces, pag organize nimo, makita na nimo ang pattern.” Lastly, knowledge is the deeper level—where you apply experience to understand why things happen and use that insight to make decisions. “Kana jud makita nako nga significant sa tanan, kay dili lang puro facts, naa na jud sense sa bigger picture.”
After that, we dived into Knowledge Management (KM). It’s not just about having data or information; you need a system that ensures everyone gets the right info at the right time. "Kay unsaon man na nimo nang data kung di nimo ma-access or di ka kabalo unsaon paggamit?" KM is essential for improving decision-making and collaboration. Imagine if one department discovers a trend and doesn’t share it with the others, “mag kaboang gyud ang negosyo ana kay walay coordination.” KM makes sure that doesn’t happen by keeping everyone on the same page.
The more we explored, the more I realized how crucial KM is, especially in business. It’s what makes sure everything runs smoothly, from decision-making to innovation. “Dako kaayo siya og impact kung kabalo ka mu-manage sa knowledge flow.”
By the end of the class, it all made sense. Understanding how data transforms into information and then into knowledge is the key to success. "Mura kog naka-cheat code sa business strategy! HAHA" Now, I can see why KM is such a game-changer for any organization.
That’s it for today’s class! “Medyo bug-at ang topic pero nindot ang learnings. ‘Til the next blog, guys!”
